Posted: 08/05/2005 in 戏剧

Samuel Beckett Professor of Drama in Trinity College Dublin and served as head of the School of Drama for eight years. His books include Granville Barker and the Dream of Theatre (1985), Plays by Harley Granville Barker (1987), Looking at Shakespeare: a visual history of twentieth-century performance (1993; second edition, 2001), and Foreign Shakespeare (1993). He is the general editor of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Theatre and Performance (2 vols., 2003), and was an advisory editor for The Oxford Companion to Shakespeare (2001). He is currently writing a book on the condition of the spectator in theatre, film, television, and sports; another on Shakespeare and the director; and preparing a second volume of Foreign Shakespeare, this one on performance in Asia (co-edited with Yong Li Lan).
